Quest for the Golden Puffle 3 (6): Pirate Plot

The heavy snow had turned into a full-on blizzard as Alaska and Yukon quietly exited the Everyday Phoning Facility.  Before long, paths would be blocked and penguins would be isolated.  This truly was a crisis situation.

"Alaska!" Yukon yelled, as he struggled to maintain her pace as the blowing snow obscured his vision.  "You know this is crazy, right?  Going against orders.  Kidnapping a Kidnap-ee.  What's your plan?"

Alaska didn't look back.  "I'll tell you when we get a good look at the Migrator's defenses.  Now save your breath so you don't get tired out," she said.

"But, Alaska, how are you going to stop the storm if you just get Rockhopper back?  The curse will still be in affect."

Alaska stopped in her tracks.  She hadn't considered this other element.  She had merely been angry with the Caster and wanted to get back at her.

Before she could reply, Yukon brought up another point.  "Won't stealing Rockhopper just make her even more angry?  Will she make it worse?"

Alaska swiveled around.  Why did Yukon have to have moments of brilliance?  She stared at him, rethinking her entire plan.  If they turned around, aborted the mission, and returned to the EPF, there would be a small scolding from their supervising officer, they would get to work, and eventually the Caster would become Queen of the island.  It was predictable.  If they went forward.....there was no predicting what could happen.

"Alaska?"  Yukon stood before her, mildly concerned.  "Do you have a plan?"

"Yes," she answered, as she was taken out of her daze.

She was lying.
